My pleco tanks are currently in a utility room with no direct windows, and I usually keep the tank lights off as I feel they are too bright for the plecos (bristlenose). The only light they have on a regular basis is a very dim ambient light during the day from the next room.
My question is, do plecos require at least a minimum amount of light per day? I've been operating under the impression that they are perfectly happy hanging out in the dark all day, however, if there is some reason (e.g. health, growth, etc.) that they might need some light, I could be persuaded to start using a dim light with a timer.
I did a quick search and couldn't find any other similar posts.
Thanks in advance,
Leeac
