Hi,
I am hoping somebody can give me some suggestions as to what plecos (other than bristlenose of course) are easy to breed but are easily purchased.

I had a look through the breeding people on here are doing, but the plecos are 1) expensive, and 2) hard to get....

Any suggestions welcome :)

I guess out of the L's i would have to suggest L202's as probably the cheapest (relatively) and easiest to breed.
Apart from pepermints and orange spots other cats you might consider are LG6 whiptails which breed prolifically and fry are easy to raise or perhaps some of the easier cory's.

Everyones tanks are different and it does seem each one of us has our little niche on what plecos are easy to breed.
I had heaps of trouble waiting for L202 to breed yet my L397 breed no troubles at all.

I totally agree. I would suggest L134s as an easy one to breed because it was for me but common wisdom says it is not. However, I am having the hardest time with L201s and they are not supposed to be that difficult. So it really depends on your tank conditions and the fish themselves.
I have managed to breed L134s, L174s, L316s and BN. But my L199s, L201s, L340s and L46s are just not cooperating at all. I just bought some L211s and I am keeping my fingers crossed. I had most of those fish for years and they are living well but showing me the finger when I ask them to get busy. So it seems they like the food and the tank but don't want to share the space with more of their own kind. Maybe the tanks are too small.
