Rena xp series for me i have tried them all at one time or another & found the rena xp to be the easiest to service with a huge capacity & never had one go wrong so far fingers crossed

I run, amongst others, 7 old 303 Fluvals and they have been very good and still are, although spares are getting short. I also have a selection of Eheims, my favourites being the 2229 wet & dry, got 3 of these. I also have a Eheim bucket filter which is brilliant, and 3 FX5's. I have had newer Fluvals but I don't think they are as good as the old ones. I also have an old 403 which is bullet proof. All the time of using the old Fluvals I have never had to change an impeller, but plenty of stems, sealing rubbers and clips and suchlike.
I will always favour Eheim because of the availability of spares, as previously stated, Fluval change the models too much.

I have had many fluval + internals and all have been good. I had one fluval external and it was made by a blind chimp with no limbs. I have only recently bought my first eheim and i must admit build quality is second to none. Tetratec externals are good too.

I am in the process of moving over to externals after having fluval internals on all my tanks. I'll be honest and say the fluval internals are excellent, but the externals are pants. My first external was a nearly new eheim pro 3 600 which is absolutely superb and absolutely silent. I was given a Fluval 305 which was horrible. It was like an engine running, very very noisy, so I didn't even bother starting to cycle it. I next bought a tetratec from a work colleague, that was so cheap it would have been rude not to have it so I figured it was worth a try. I must admit it's not bad at all, not silent like the eheim but nearly silent.

I have no sold the eheim and have spent the money on buying an eheim pro 3 350. So it's eheim for me and I like the Pro 3's but haven't had any experience of the previous models.

Can we please stop putting this thread back to the top:wb::wb:

I find it really embarrassing have Fluval being associated with the lean green poo eating machine:D

Cheers
