Raided my PB for you Stan, thanks for the nice comments.

This was there set up, I now know that these fish dont want this kind of biotope. On top of that it was an absolute pig to keep clean, think a shed load more poo than a tank full of Panques.

I really enjoyed keeping the Gold Nuggets and found them fascinating to observe, I also really enjoyed learning about there dietry requirements. I couldnt reproduce the Aufwuchs they require. I was very aware that GNs are very commonly kept but sadly not very successfully, they usually end up emaciated due to eating the wrong food.

Bight of a shambles, its in another interim and purely functional. 24 hole air brick, running U/G's big 9" x 9" pond sponge filter driven by PH. Contents is 9 biggish L46s, 4 Breeding L333s (sold) 4 L282 (never seen them even in the darkness) for sale25 sml/med Peruvian Nanay Scalare Angels (looks stunning in big numbers) and 12 Hyphesobrycon Filamentosum - Phenix Tetra stunning if you can get them.

Until very recently it had been a malawi tank looking like this, but I had to strip and rehome all the fish above when my Dads LFS had to close down and I lost my fish room (his Q room)

I'm a one tank man again (and i hate it) I am planning a new tank, and new and exciting project, this one I intend to stick with with for the long run, it will involve a large coloney of 20+ L46s. I am still researching how I will execute it as I want to try and offer them a biotope type aquarium and want to get the rockscape and caving as natural as possible for them. I also want to give them huge current but need to find if they actually get huge current at 10 metres depth (in the wild)?

So my Xingu tank is now well on its way, the decor and Xingu plecs are in place (10 F0 H Zebra, 2 Scobiancistrus Aureatus 8" & 4", 2 B Chrysomellus). I have 2 beautiful little GN back in the tank and i love having them again, one is 2" the other 3" both are L081.

I spent about 4hrs yesterday re-landscaping the tank, it now has about 50kgs of black slate, mainly large heavy pieces, which has created a maze of tunnels & crevices (with a larger hollowed out are underneath this ensures nothing can get trapped (hopefully).

The install has only been complete for 1 day, last night and this evening i have been able to observe some fantastic behaviour from the Zebra's & GN's watching them fitting and gliding between the crevices. This is exactly what I wanted to acheive in creating a biotope enviroment, I dont see many of the pleco's at any one time but when I do see them they very comfortable in there surroundings confident in knowing they can hide in an instant.

There are still a few things to do before the project is complete, mainly finding new homes for the non-Xingu species I have left and then completing the Xingu collection.

I'll get some photo's over the coming days/weeks and I'll post new pictures as I love the forums feedback.
