Hot glue guns

I am making some caves for my pleco's out of old slate tiles. I have aquarium silicone but can i use a hot glue gun instead??

I guess it would depend on what is in the glue, you wouldn't want any poisons leeching once inside the tank.

Also just reading up on it, the glue is likely to disintegrate, so the caves would start to fall apart.

I am going to go with the silicone, I have been reading up myself on it. Some say its ok others not so hard wearing, I'll stick with what i know :thumbup:

hot glue wont stick to the slate very well at all

Emmm!!! Took advice from my eldest son using a glue gun on some home made caves! nice and strong when put together and underwater it seemed to decay very quickly (couple of weeks) before complete collapse!

I wouls air on the side od caution, and nor use on anything expensive like a squashed L46!
