How do u breed hypostomus?

Are they cave spawners like pseuda and hypans?

I got 4 luteus in my 4ft x 2.5ft x 1.5ft fgt. Temperature at 25-26 deg Cel

2 confirm female at 14inch and 12 inch.
1 confirm male at 14inch.
1 maybe male at 12 inch.

Possible to breed them?

i'd imagine they are cave spawners.... check on planet catfish...

best get your males a couple of caves... sized to suit...

How do u breed hypostomus? Are they cave spawners like pseuda and hypans?

They build burrows in the river banks when the water levels are high, there are some pictures of the tunnels when they are exposed in Ingo Seidel's "Back to Nature guide to L...". Hypostomus species, which are commercially bred, are cultured outside in mud ponds (where presumably they can build their own burrows). This is also partially why there are worries about Gibbies/Plecs as "invasive aliens" <http://oai.dtic.mil/oai/oai?verb=getRecord&metadataPrefix=html&identifier=ADA501422>

A lot of commonly available species have never been bred in aquariums, but the "Threadfin Acara" (Acarichthys heckelii) is a cichlid which has a similar tunnel digging approach, and they have been bred using intersecting drain-pipes set in the substrate, so that might be an option.
