hey pleco breeders, i was interested in trying to spawn the L128 pleco, does anyone know whether there is ANY possibility they would? cheers

has been done a few times now in the UK. takes ages though, and different people recommend different things i.e. group spawners, high/low temp, fast/slow water movement. trial and error is the way forward i suppose.
i have various groups and they refuse to spawn (yes they are male and female :lol: ) so i'm starting again and buying fresh stock.

Why would getting rid of the ones you have for others make a difference? i would stick to what you have mate.
Has it??. Anymore info?
I would imagine they are no different to spawn than any other plec TBH.
The main part is having a pair and a bit of luck

i still have my breeding pair of L128's, i'm just going to introduce new L128's to see if that makes any difference. (done the same with my ctenolucius hujeta which breed in the same tank)
as for people in the UK breeding L128's, i'm pretty sure i heard someone doing it on another forum but can't remember which. but anyway it's still been done in captivity, no matter what country.

Can I ask why your are going to introduce new 128,s to a breeding pair?. I wouldnt change anything if I had a breeding pair:dk:
Oh and pics would be really cool. Maybe a breeding log aswell as we dont have one on here for L128:drool:

are you breeding L128 then?
if so, could you offer the OP some advice as in the initial request?
and like thegeeman says, a breeding log would be great, we have a few members on here that would love to know how you got them breeding
no i don't breed L128.
my idea for introducing new L128's to my current pair incase there was something wrong. what i mean is i might try a different female with my existing male and vice versa to see if it changes anything, if not ohwell, if it does then fingers crossed.

I thought you had a breeding pair IE you was breeding them.
So you have a pair and are thinking of extending the group?.

the more fish you have the greater the possibility of getting a compatible pair breeding....

the person I read about who has bred them, had a group in a good sized tank, about 5 or 6 of them in a colony I think.
try a super tight cave. A bloke did it in Australia and used a cave that looked too small. (one of mine). Unfortunately he didn't notice until he found a well developed fry. He ended up losing the parents some time after.
