hi, i am soon going to buy a pair of lemon nose bristlenose plecs. i would like to breed them in my 4ft (216l) community tank. their tankmates will be: 12 kuhli loaches, 8 bronze corys, 2 Corydoras copei, 20 copper harlequins and 5 Siamese algae eaters. what i would like to know is what is the best diet for these fish, what is their preferred temp to be healthy and breed, what do i need to do to induce spawning and what sort of caves they will need to spawn in (i have tons of spare slate to make caves with, and i also have a large piece of bogwood which have a flat base under which they could spawn).

i have done my own research on the web, but i'd like to hear peoples own personal experiences, as i feel thay are more valuable than the info i read on google.

cheers for the help.:)

I think they are very similar requirements to common BNs. slate caves are fine or upturned flower pots or holes drilled in bigwood. I would give them a choice of several caves.

aquatic silicone but does not have to be expensive retail shops have a big mark up to stay in business. Online is much cheaper as they don't have the same overheads.

something like these would be ideal.

thanks, i've found some on amazon for a decent price, so i'll probably get that as my parents won't use ebay.

cheers:)
Just gotta make sure that there is no mildewcide in the silicone. Silicone sold for caulking bathtubs, sinks & often windows contain mildewcides to keep mildew from growing on the caulk. Mildewcide is toxic. Should say on the tube if there is mildewcides.

thanks, it says it is for aquariums, but i'll check on the tube to make sure.:)
Watch out for a guy selling Wurth silicone sealer, he was selling it on Ebay as aquarium safe so I bought one but it didn't mention aquariums on it so I rang the company and they said it contained fungicide, I told the bloke but he ignored me and carried on selling it. None on there at the moment but watch out for it, if you buy one and it doesn't mention aquaria on the tube please make sure you check it out before you use it or you could lose all your fish, most tubes will have a phone number on.
