Appearance: Similar to ancistrus but with a much flatter body. They have 3 curved short odontodes which are normally hidden under the gill cover and are extended when used in defence.
Compatibility: Fairly peaceful pleco. As with all plecs, enough space and hidng places should be provided to avoid confrontation and stress.
Sexing and Breeding: Males have a broader head and as they age possibly more bristles on the snout area. Not reported to have been bred in the aquariumalthough soft acidic water is a good place to start
Diet: These plecs are herbivores so a diet of veggies is needed and occasionally some meaty foods such as daphnia and brine shrimp
Water parameters: PH 5-7 TEMP 26-30
Good filtration is required along with frequent water changes.
Max Size: 13cm.
