Appearance: As with other Pterygoplichthys, should have more than 10 rays in the dorsal fin. Brownish coloured with gold spots which aren't uniform, spots aren't necessarily circular.
Compatibility: A pleco with lots of character and not really shy. Not a good companion with similar sized pleco's as can be territorial and especially around food.
Sexing and Breeding: Sexing most likely by inspecting thegenital papillae. Breeding in an aquarium is highly unlikely although they are farm bred.
Diet: An omnivore that needs veggies and wafers, also enjoys meaty foods like prawns sometimes.
Water parameters: Not too fussy, will suit most water conditions. Temp should be between 25c and 28c
