Perhaps he is a beginner dad, or he has other females coming in and booting out the previous eggs, or a rival male is being a nuisance?

Did the eggs look to be fertilized yet? Little blood vessels and eyes starting?

I have sometimes been successful with saving eggs rolling about the tank by putting them in a cup or container with the tanks water in, hanging the handle over the lip of the tank so the cup is in the warm tank and a tiny drop of meth blue in there.
It should halt the fungus and change the water once or twice a day with the tanks water until they hatch.
Shouldnt need further blue after you have cleaned up the eggs from the bacteria the first time.
Also have an airstone to keep current going over the eggs. Can transfer to your seive after the first blue day if you want.

hi there, thanks for the help, lost 5 eggs, have a trio in tank, 1m 2f. noticed the blood vessels this morn, guessing the other eggs were not fertilized. 11 others have hatched, male still in cave with his own, wait to see how he goes, thanks muzza

unfertile ones will rot and can then spread fungus to fertile ones.
I expect some where infertile which is probably why they were kicked out (he may still have some in the cave)
sorry I dont like methyl blue as kills your filter bacteria, I prefer to add some shrimp or similar that will eat the fungus, if you need meds try ESH2000

I have wanted to know the same thing.
Would it be sufficient to put the eggs into like a plastic cup with an airstone & a drop of methyl blue? If so how long can I safely leave the eggs in the cup?
I was thinking of changing the water every day after work & adding another drop of blue
Thanks for letting me jump in here :)
