Going over old ground again .
What is breeding behaviour other than the obvious trapping females ?.
Do wild L134 breed in winter or summer or any time in UK ?
How much gravel ? ,mine do that much digging that caves and wood ends up everywhere
I've recently put 2 large pieces of wood and several different sizes and shapes of caves ,they've become more active and happier more shadows
Many thanks
(Bred loads of bristles no problem )

female will hang around males cave and he will fan at entrance to attract females. if he is ready to breed he will be hairy.
also may not breed if two hairy males in same tank.

There have been numerous breeding reports where two or more males guarding clutches in the same aquarium. The issue is not how many males but how big the tank. I have at least 5 males (all hairy like a brush) in the tank, I wonder how I am getting all these fry? Maybe they are cloning themselves. Yea, that's it when there are 5 or more males, they start to clone little ones of themselves.

Do you separate their line of sight from each other or anything?
I separated a trio and had a trapping straight away but have now had trappings in the colony with 4 males also

I have at least 4 hairy males and from what I can tell only 2 large enough females the other fish are a bit smaller .
I have 10 fish in a 4ft 240l tank with 2 external filters and 2internals (seeding them for grow out tank)
I'm going to get a few more females before next winter in the hope to breed .
At the moment l134 are hard to get hold of and having the choice of adult female is very hard and having the cash and time to travel even harder .
The males are wagging there tails and trying to look cool outside there caves ,one very hairy males lives inside a piece of wood ,how's he going to trap female ? ,will he use the females cave ?,the hole in the wood is small and suspended mid water

I had a wimpy male that let a female take his cave while he lived in the driftwood.
I thought maybe he didn't like girls so separated him with two girls to test him out and he definitely likes girls haha
