My female has been in the males cave each night for two nights in a row now, but by the time I get up he is alone with no eggs.

Hopefully this is where it all starts and I dont have to look at an empty tank for much longer.:D

Sounds like she is getting ready, the best you can do for now is ignore them and lift your protein foods slightly.

Been feeding them frozen brine shrimp and bloodworms.

They are currently in a 540L tank which they share with 7 L204s and 4 L066s, hopefully this wont become a problem as the previous owner succesfully bred them in a tank of their own.

Will see what happens.

yup i would lol.

Nice photo though
Thanks matey, tried to leave them alone but cant do it. Im always shining the torch in their caves to check for eggs.
I guess the ones that hold on to temptation gets rewarded.
TBH never thought a torch could scare them that much.

Nice one mate. Must be a really good looking tank you've got there. Especially with the colony of 204's!
The 204s do make the tank more lively as they aren't as shy as the 134s, but I think they might be disturbing the 134s breeding. Have ordered some new tanks so they can have a tank of their own.

Cheers.

Good Luck mate... Hope mine Hurry up haha
Thanks Plecs, Sometimes I wonder why we keep plecos, they do nothing all day, all we do is wait for them to breed and while we wait we look at an empty tank, but yet we still dedicate all our time to them. To me its now turned into a challenge. Hope yours breed soon mate.

Question: Are your guys shy? I always thought that these guys should be out and about.

Mine are shy too except in the evening when I turn the blue lights on, then they come out and are all over the tank.

Mine have breed three times so far but since I have been checking on them almost daily (also with a flashlight, lol) nothing happens anymore. We both have to learn some self control.

I like those logs, but they look a little large to me for L134s. They look to be better fit for BNs. But then again my L316s bred in logs that I bought for BNs but my L316s are a bit larger then my L134s.

It is suprising what a torch can do, mainly occurs in first timers but not uncommon that the parents will leave the eggs.
They are nice looking fish mine are alot like yours in pattern.
What size are they?

Think I might try this blue light you are talking about as I have one laying around somewhere,(use to have a marine tank).

They are roughly 10cm, males are a little smaller.

I hate this emoticon but anyway.:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

My female is now officially trapped with the male in his cave and this time it seems like we will get eggs. I have covered the tank with a towel and the missus has hidden the torch.

Will check the cave in 10 days, Just have to remember that curiosity killed the cat.:lol::lol:

I do everything the same. lealea
Wish I could be as casual as you lealea, I don't even want to go near the tank.

I did have a sneak peak though and the male is just constantly vibrating with the female inside.

How long do you think until she comes out?

I wouldnt expect her to be in there any longer than 24hrs but the more experienced blokes will know. Can you lift your temp slightly 26-27?
