I would let it slowly rise to 26 anyway as if stays cool the eggs may not grow as well.

also dont leave for 2 weeks with no w/c. or filter wash, the young need premium water qual. so once she has left the cave do gentle w/c , minimum disturbance and use water same temp as the tank.

Its been a long wait but I finally have a successful spawn. I counted around 35 wrigglers and still have one female trapped in the cave, she's been trapped for 1 week now but she can stay there as long as she wants, I got babies to care for now.:D:D:D

Thanks for everyone's help and suggestions.

Thanks guys, all of the young seem like they are developing nicely, you can see some patterns on them already. I think they are roughly 3 days after hatching.

Glad to say that all 41 fish are still there, I will be leaving them in the frysaver for another week before transporting 5 into their own tank, if these survive the rest will be moved there.

Just make sure the tank you put them in isn't too big as for their first couple weeks those fry easily starve to death, maybe its better to raise them in the fry saver first for another 2 weeks and then drop them in your tank?

I might do that actually, the last thing I want is for them to belly up.

Thanks guys.

How are these going blue? I'm guessing they've already absorbed their egg sac so i'm wondering what your feeding them and if you've had any casualties yet? Hopefully all is good :D

Yeah they no longer have their sacs anymore and doing really well, I've actually moved 6 of them over to their own tank yesterday, the water in that tank was almost exactly the same as their original tank. I am planning to move the rest in the next day or two.

I wanted them out of the main tank as I have a pair that's been in the cave together for almost 3 weeks now. I think the only way they are gonna breed is if I do a large water change, something I didn't want to do while the young were in the tank.

Head count is actually 42 when I last counted them.

Thanks.

Forgot to add, they are fed with hikari algae wafers, shrimp pellets and spectrum grow. It seems like the spectrum grow is getting the biggest reaction from them at this stage, Will be trying other stuff later down the track.

How big is the tank you've moved them in? Reason i'm so curious is i've got L015 fry which are about 1 day away from losing their egg sac :D
