thats fantastic rob! i'm chuffed to bits for you.
hopefully these eggs will hatch but dont worry too much if they dont, its the first spawn thats hardest to get and each subsequent spawn will be stronger, so lots of babies to look forward to.

In the house of gee
Congrates Rob:clap:

Not the easiest plec to spawn either.

The eggs look fertile to me so they shoud hatch. Looking at the pic you have a few shells, This to me is a sign that he has been munching on them so fingers crossed he will get the idea on the second spawn

Cheers

Hi Gee yeah there were loads of sacks around the tank a tried to seperate the sacks with the good eggs with twesers very gently but i gave up as i didnt want to damage the good eggs. There is one male fanning but im not sure he has anything to fan! How long would i expect to wait before i see the eggs develop?

I have noticed many of you move fry immediately to a frysaver. Is this necessary? Fingers crossed I will have my first spawn as soon as the spring storms hit Australia ;)

Good luck Rob! So long as you have a nice current over the eggs in the breeding trap they should hatch ok :woohoo:

Good luck with them, I remember how excited I was when mine first spawned :D

Mine have been on strike since February so hope they start up again soon :wb:

Thank you Joby :)
I have put a 900ltr powerhead with air supply pointing at the fry container so hopefully that should be enough, do you know how long it will be before i see the eggs develop?

Well i cant wait :) hope they make it, must be something to do with the low pressure because my severums spawnd 100s of eggs and that tank hadnt had a water change in 2 weeks!

I did your metod Joby yesterday i did a 50% change prob 100ltrs of water that i kept in a water butt with bogwood inside....it workd :)

congrats!! really pleased for you. they are not easy to breed so you are doing something right! well done. the eggs hatch approx 5 or 6 days (depends on temp) after laying and then look a bit like an egg with a small tail! it takes over a week more before they look like little plecs
