Well done on the super reds Steve

Mine spawned after having them 3 months and not spawning for their original owner, then after 4 spawns they've been on strike :dk:

I agree, Thunder storms when air preasure drops simulates spawing, as in the wild means rain a new fresh water coming washing food etc down steam.

Hi carptamer i havnt bred my super reds yet i bought 6 to grow on there just hitting over 2" in size now really cant belive how quick they grow!

Ive only had my L134s for 6 months and this was there first atempt at breeding, they ate most of the eggs and the 6 i managed to save fungusd over, i need to be more prepaird i think and should of set another tank up for the eggs like i do for my corys but nevermind im hoping they do breed again, im holding out till tuesday night when were expecting a big low pressure front so that will be when i do a 50% water change of cool water that i have kept in a water tub with bogwood in so the ph will be lower and there will be tannins in the water, ill also lower the temp of the heater so i hope by this time next week all have some more good news, i do think its to do with the weather we have more than anything else.

well some people breed l134 and I am sure that they have taken a lot of care to achieve it. so very well done to Rob here.
they are harder than Bns to spawn. I have l134 and they are proving my biggest breeding challenge at the moment cos they just dont want to know!

I just let mines get on with it now. They don't eat the eggs since I stopped shining a torch in the cave. And they do a great job of bringing up the young in the cave. The youngsters come out the cave without yolk sacs. I have 2 breeding pairs now and I've moved the 4 surplus ones to another tank.

Weve been in low pressure this week so i did a 50% change of room temp water and 15% water changes everyday of room temp water in the morning and at night ill continue for a week then leave the tank alone for a while fingers crossed they may spawn again, theres enough of them being 2 males and 5 females

Mines have been spawning roughly every 5 weeks. I just change about 25 litres at room temp nearly every day. The tank is 48"x12"x18". 170 litres I think.

Just checked my temp and it's 81. I don't think it drops much as I use an airline in both buckets to syphon it back in. I just start the syphon back in and go watch tv for a couple of hours.
