Plecs don't get pregnant. They lay eggs so females get gravid (holding eggs). Pregnancy is having a developing fetus within the body. As fertilization occurs outside the body, it is possible for females to hold developing eggs without the presence of a male.

If the change occured rapidly, I'd point to bloat rather than gravidity.

im aware that they lay eggs i meant full of eggs when i said pregnant.i just didnt realise they filled up with eggs when there isnt a male around.cheers

I would suspect Bloat. what are you feeding it on?
sometimes they will try to breed with other similar plecs -what else is in the tank?
but its the make that fans in caves and females who get gravid.
i would suggest a diet of cooked peas only for a few days.

All of those have very different dietary requirements. Even my hypans only get bloodworm every 4th day and your L333 is the only carnivore there your 240 and 009 are omniverous and you bn is a vegitarian, so both should be getting a mainly veg diet yet but you're mainly feeding meat. I'm pretty convinced your female had bloat.

You need to do some research regarding feeding. This is the problem when mixing plecos that have different needs

How do you assure that once food is placed in the tank, that each plec only eats the food selected for them?

they stay in seperate sides of tank in caves or under bog wood so i just add their food to whatever side their on they dont go from one end to the next they stay around their own side thats how i feed them.i may not be experianced as most on here i joined a few weeks ago to learn more some of the comments im getting seem to be from people who look down apon us newbies.sorry if what im doing is wrong thats why i asked for help and advice. thanks.

Nobody is looking down on you, and there is certainly nobody here is looking down on newbies like you suggest. You came for some advice because you thought your pleco was "pregnant" we have since discovered that you are not feeding them correctly and your pleco had bloat. Seems to me your getting defensive because it's been pointed out to you that you may have been doing something wrong. It's been suggested that you change the diet.

You cannot guarantee that your plecos are sticking to their own food, trust me, when the lights are out they will be all over the tank, get some moonlights and you will see for yourself. You came here for advice, you can take it or leave it, but don't get antsy because you don't like what you hear. There are many people on here that have forgotten more about plecos than you will ever know - take my advice - take their advice, they know what they are talking about or you'll end up coming here asking for an opinion as to what may have killled your pleco!

i know thanks ; i posted on here to take advice it was a few remarks that where a bit patronizing that i didnt like .im more than happy to take any advice given but dont agree with people assuming i dont know how my own fish act.they dont move to other side of tank to eat other plecs food as i do own moonlighting equipment and watch them eat every night.they eat then return to their own cave/hole in wood.i have said thanks after every comment so dont know how thats been taken as being nasty.ill say again thanks for advice and will listen to all positive messages.thanks.
