I have colony of L260 and have breeding activity that i saw male trapped the female in the cave. so i got excited and let them be.

I checked 3days later still I cann't find the female so i have looked into the cave and there was female still trapped but i noticed female died.

is it often happened???

Hypans can be nasty :wb: I recently lost a year old juvie when an older male trapped it in a cave and the juvie wouldn't give it up

Sorry you lost your female

This sort of situation is not uncommon
One way to cure this is to "over cave" so for 6 fish I would use 7 or 8 caves plus some bog wood that has holes and places to hide.

caves

one thing i always like to try and do is preserve your females as they are hard to come by these days...

use a removable lid type cave like this one and if you get concerns just open up the cave and let them out!!!!

bream legend will make these caves up for you... just pm him and say johnno sent ya!!!!

It can happen alot with hypans and sometimes pekoltia as well. They keep them in there they squash them or strip their fins and scales off until they die. The boys can get very aggresive when they are in the breeding cycle. Sorry for your loss. lealea

especially when doing large water changes... it sends the males into overdrive and if the girls not ready...:cry::cry:
