Last night I was just turning off all the lights to my tanks when in my temporary L260 tank I couldn't see them all ??? I went to go get the touch and with my surprise I see a couple in a cave :D Then to my absoloute surprise I looked into another cave and there is a male gaurding some eggs !!!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Now i have been moving my fish over to my partners house and these are only in a 2ft tank just while i set up their new tank. They must have only been in the temp tank 3-4 weeks and would never had thought they would have spawned??

I have 5 which i'm pretty sure I have 2, possibly 3 females in this group but they have never spawned before for me. I daren't look again in case i spook the male so I guess its just a waiting game  Just thought i'd share this as i'm soo excited that they have actually spawned !!!!

I didnt get that good a look in the cave but they eggs seem to be quite big and a nice bunch of them too :D. Fingers crossed now that they hatch and survive.

I have got to say that i've been trying to condition them and get them to spawn for about 4 months with no joy. But all I did was put them in a tank and hadn't bothered much with them and was going to give it another go when i moved them to their new tank.

Let's hope they do keep breeding joby like your  If you don't mind me asking what do you feed your fry and have you done anything in regards to moving them etc?

Thanks Kennedy24

L260

Thats how I got mine to spawn, and my L183 - just put them in a tank with bogwood and feed them as normal and let them get on with it.

Well done on your spawn of L260 it is a great acheivement. Regards, Bill :thumbup:

Congrats on the spawn. It really is a euphoric feeling when they do spawn, particularly if you are not expecting it. I tried for ages to get mine going to no avail, trying lots of different things like R.O, temperature and TDS control. After many months of having no joy, I took a step back and just left them be for a while, apart from water changes and feeding. And of course this is when they started............. Well done again

I feed them half crushed spirulina flake and half crushed mixture of tetra prima and tetra doromin at least twice a day and in the evening they also get some frozen brine shrimp.

I've not moved them purposely but one did hitch a ride in the cave when I moved the parents and its still doing very well

Good luck with the eggs :D

Good to know Joby so thanks for that

Thanks alot hypanaddict :D

I have come to the conclusion from this spawning that all you need to do is make sure they have clean water, good food, good filtration and most of all be left alone they will get on with it. I think I was getting involved too much and interupting them all the time by trying different this and different that hinders more than it helps :dk: Next on my list is gonna be my L134 with a bit of luck

I have come home today and apparantly the male has not been in the cave all day :dk: I was worried they could get eaten by another in the tank so have removed them from cave :dk: Not sure if this was right or not but you can see the fish forming in the eggs :woohoo: even the eyes :D

Just a little update on the eggs, I had 9 from the spawn but since moving them 5 were either not fertilised or had fungus  This morning i have 4 left that have hatched and have wrigglers so fingers crossed :s
