Unfortunately there was a good few losses at the last minute  an egg fungussed right in the centre of the cluster and did some damage as it couldn't be safely removed but we still have at least 100 little bubs :woohoo:

Kev, this is a pic of the set up, temp is 28 degrees, ph 7.2, not sure on hardness. It has a large air driven sponge filter and a powerhead driven sponge filter so there is a good flow. They share the tank with some 'Rio Ucayali' ancistrus which also spawned a couple of weeks ago. I wasn't expecting them to spawn just yet.

I have 2 males and 1 female. I bought the male that spawned Feb 2010, the lfs didn't have an ID and it wasn't quite sexable.
It's taken a good while to get hold of the other 2 and wasn't 100% sure on their sexes at the time either as my female has bristles on the edge of the snout and the male only had small bristles on the edge too.

do you think that removing the eggs from the male will, remove from the fish the ability to take care of the eggs? i mean the natural instinct?

I'm always uncomfortable when i remove the eggs from the male, is it without any repercussion?
