Well I have not been paying much attention to these guys just waiting for them to grow out....other than regular WC and feeding on this bunch of plecs... however yesterday I notice some FRY scurring arround!!! I did not think they were old enough to spawn.. Maybe because I had an adult female sigleton that I purchased earlier and now I have a group of 4 that somebody is spawning..Have to pay closer attention to these guys.. I was able to net up 6 of the little ones... dont know how old they are but here are some picts... Then penny is underneath the tub for size reference...

Any guesses on how old these are? My first success at breeding plecos...:woohoo::woohoo:

Thanks for the Estimate of age.. I grew out some gold head Comps..So I am familiar with slow growth... Never seen a fish grow so slow as those comps...
I grew up three generations of Julies in the same time the Comps went from
2" to 2.5"....
I think I have a male on some eggs right now as when I was chasing fry arround their tank ther was one L340 hiding in the hollow section of a piece of driftwood. the piece was moved several times to catch the fry and it was not till I was putting the tank back together that I noticed a tail barely visable in the end of the driftwood.. He has since not left the end so I hope he has some eggs there..:dk:
What is the spawn size for these plecs.. I read it is arround 10-15 plecs..Does this seem about right to you geeman?

Well the wife was downstairs in the fishroom/tv room looking at the 340 tank.. and saw three different sizes of fry swimming arround.. I know I had at least one left from the first noticed spawn... Now aparently I have had TWO more spawns.. I haven't even SEEN a trapping.. I have seen Plecs hanging out in caves but not Two in one.. And I have been watching.. Man I so want to see these plecs Cave together...but I dont want to sit and stare at them with a flashlight for hours... I guess I will just have to be satified I have a happy group of Hyphans... I sold the first group to a local would lives real close to me.. Otherwise would not have risked transporting them so small....Now my Daughter wants a breeding group in her 75 Gal. planted discus tank....have to get more caves...

more fry..

well I was ding the ignore them rotuine again.. just feeding and WC's no looking arround with the flash light.. That REALLY stopeed any breeding... so I waited and waited. Then after several months I started to see small fry come out durring feeding time.. I waited several more wekks and yesterday I puled the fry out of the tank...There was the original sigleton left from the first spawn.. and at least 3 other spawns of sizes from fresh free swiming to nearly and inch long... I pulled out 23 fry and there were several left that I got tired of trying to net.. OH BOY!! I put four of the biggest in my daughters Discus tank to start another colony.. and am now raising the rest in a fry tank!!!!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:
