I thought it was 10 eggs every 2 years bob, i want my money back lol
might need a grow out tank if they keep going i have 22 fry in a breeding trap that was from the eggs i took back from you and i would think there is the same amount from this spawn to

after a few batches you may need to separate the male so he can rest! they tend to cave without breaks! good luck
i lost 6 fry yestarday 
when i came home tonight there is another 3 dead they seem to have a clear fluff on them, i have one in a trap that has it on its tail, would you say this is fungus? i have treated the tank with Melafix just incase,
all the adults are fine and there is a few fry in the tank that look fine as well

No idea what it is john but I would crank up the temp abit. I am pretty sure Bob used to keep them 28-29 ish and never had any fry loss.

I keep mine at about 28 degrees, but if they have bred at 26 that should not be too big a problem, but worth a degree or two warmer. if its too warm it holds less oxygen. I assume you have an airstone or venturi running?
dont think that would have caused the fungus. I suspect they are just young and vunerable and there is some fungal spores in the tank -maybe some of the eggs were fungused? do you have any small shrimps in the tank? they sometimes help by eating fungus, especially with eggs.
whatever try and keep water qual as good as you can with daily warm changes.
I have always had problems when they dont stay with dad for as long as poss - he usually is best at caring for these.

I will turn the temp up then i thought you had them at 26 :wb::wb: should i change the temp slowly over a few days or should i just change it straight away?
it is Gravel subtrate i have been doing Gravel vacs every 3 days due to the amount of Crap they produce and i have been doing daily 10% water changes with cold treated water
Yes i have an air stone in there, i could also change the fitting on the Ehiem to a venturi if need be, would you recommend this?
i didnt even know they had spawned so have no idea if any eggs fungused, i dont have any shrimp in the tank but i do have some cherry shrimp in another tank i could add a few do you think this is worth trying?
i have been doing daily water changes at about 10% i was just using cold treated water i would of used same temp water if i knew there was Eggs/fry
i noticed the fry still have yellow bellys (yolk sack) but not a real lot, i thought he should release them once they had tottaly gone do you think the male has been releasing them to early?
also would you still do daily water changes even though i am using the meds? it says on the bottle dose daily and do a water change after day 7

To me it looks like it is bacterial.
I would accept this loss, keep the male apart to hold off the next spawning and deep clean the tank then start again
Raise the temp slowly or you will have white spot to treat also.

yes he has kicked them out too early so they are dying. all the egg sack should have gone. maybe he was disturbed, have you other fish in there that might have wanted the cave?
if you have a venturi to fit I would put it in cos if you are adding the 'fixes' they need more oxygen.
I had that onece whne a batch was kicked out and still had a little egg sack left, but they all died I'm afraid. I think they need to stay with dad till really have to come out. I suspect he feeds them so that they poplate their tummy with wood digesting bacteria or something. I even drop mico worms and crushed flake in front of cave when I know they are about to come out, so he can waft it in and they can stay with him a day longer.
