came down this morning to find young longfin male BN (not full size yet has only just got his bristles) in cave with adult gold stripe trying her best to get in and oust him. I assumed it was territory dispute, but as she is quite hairy i did not want him hurt as she is much heftier than him, so I lifted the cave and they both shot out. inside was nice yellow cluster!
so I have mover the Gold stripe to QT tank so he can have some peace. he is back in the cave and fanning, but as its his first they may not be fertile or the stress may make him eat them, I will wait and see.

being his first spawn she could use a surrogate dad......
yes you read that correctly - surrogate dad... been experimenting with changing eggs over in caves and seeing if the male will still fan them and hatch them up.... with good success.... im currently trying this with similar species but not the same breed of fish... shhhhh top secret :whistle::whistle:

I guess I have had them for about 6 months, they are not fully grown yet.
I have a second pair in another tank, the same age, who are not breeding yet but I suspect they wont becasue of their tank mates.
what other fish do you have in with the BNs?
