Hi,
male, because head and body shape
most likely female, it's difficult: head and body shape look like female, but the first spins of pectoral fins look very thick.
Look also at "To distinguish the sexes of small hypostominae loricariids"

both look like young males to me...
do you have a side picture of the head showing cheek odontode ?
thats what usually sells it for me....

Both head shapes look different to me
no1 is more rounded
No2 has a small point
Rear pectoral fins are also different
No1 short and rounds out to rear of tail
No2 long cuts in straight to the body
No1 has Odontodal growth but not as long as fish no2
Not sure how old or big they are but to me there are differences to them
