I have been admiring the lovely Royal pics on here especially in Matabulas thread and low and behold my LFS had a lovely Royal in for a decent price which I just had to take. Ive had him a couple of weeks now and hes lovely

Anyway here are some terrible pics I took whilst in the bag,
measured he seems to be just over 9 inch

Holly crap that dude is unique. I don't even know if it's 190 or 330. It's marking from top to bottom are amazing.

This guy is in the top 5 of odd ball panaque I've seen

ha ha they look after me in there been spending a fortune in there for the last 20 years but saying that they were only asking £65 for it and when you consider the price of washed out babies hes a bargain. Nice full bellied and big long whiskers hes a beauty

Thats a good looking panaque! Im loving the stripe in his tail, a true Tiger panaque!!! Be interesting to see if his green settles down a bit darker when he settles in, Is that a mark on his belly or is it in his pattern? Great fish!

I have 2 large ones with very irregular markings. Not sure where they came from. I got them from an MH for £20ea (7" & 9") they said that an old man had had them for a very long time and had shut his tank down.

The fish you have is beautiful. Keep an eye on its patterning, I'd be interested to see if the pattern changes.

I don't know who this matAbula is, sure sounds like this matUbula fella though  (I jest, everyone makes the mistake).

But that it one strangely nice Panaque nigrolineatus you have there. I feel I have deja vu though, I swear I've seen one just like it. Did you ask whether it was freshly caught or from a hobbyist when you bought it?

Yup, I'm confident I've seen it before then. I'm sure there was a picture on this forum. I'll try and find it.

This unusual pattern seems pretty rare though, and the base colour is different.
