New bn Spawn. A few questions.

So...
My bn have already spawned again but there's a few things different this time.
Things went so smoothly the first time in the early stages and I thought they'd know what they were doing by now. Lol

I knew my female was gravid again so I knew it was coming. I spotted her this morning and I knew she had laid but she's ghastly thin with a sunken belly.
She was a chubby bunny just last night and she didn't change this drastically last time. Has anyone else's females ever looked completely drained after laying?

Just as I noticed my female, I looked towards the male's cave just as a small bunch of eggs came flying out the entrance :wb: He didn't kick any eggs out last time so I didn't have to deal with this problem. I moved these few into a mesh fry saver with an air stone. I've got a picture at the end of this post of the eggs so anyone can tell me what I'm doing right or wrong. I don't have an egg tumbler and can't afford one either. I lifted the cave and looked in (glass bottom) and saw that the eggs aren't attached to the side of the cave and are almost floating around in there.
PLUS! I went out to finish up my Christmas shopping and when I got home there was a giant clump of eggs outside the cave and he was outside fanning them. lol. I gently pushed them around and poked them back into the cave around his fat head trying to spike me with his gill thingys. But I came back an hour or so later and they're back outside the cave, so I had to move them to the fry saver too. I don't think there's that many left in the cave, but it'll keep him busy anyway.
I've emptied my fry tank completely from the last batch that didn't work out so well and set it up again with clean water, heater, and new sponge filter and a little piece of USED driftwood with a baby anubias from my main tank to start cycling. By the time I'm ready to transfer them over it should be ready to go cause that'll be well after Christmas. I'm going away too which is annoying. They've got perfect timing!! :fr:

I have no idea why hes kicking them out. Is he pretty young yet, or maybe alot of activity around the tank stressing him. Its strange to be fanning them outside the cave like that. The eggs look very healthy though. :yes:

I guess she just laid a lot more eggs this time (hence she was drained) and he was taken by surprise, as so many he cant stick them to cave wal as he has to clean them and turn them etc so i guess he has accidently pushed them out by fanning and is himself confused.
i would just put them in fry saver with air stone and now and then put a cup of water from tank into fry saver to ensure water is circulating through.
when they are fully hatched and you want to move to a fry rank, also put a lot of the adult tank water into the fry tank as you w/c the adult tank.
give the female a good feed she will be hungry

Airstone is better under the eggs.

Yeah they hatched. Unfortunately I had to leave that morning for Christmas so I couldn't keep an eye on them. My brother called last night and said they were almost all gone. I know the yoyo loach has been trying to get into the trap but he couldn't do anything to the eggs before. Getting at the fry is a different story though. When they first hatched they were all sitting along the side on the plastic away from the mesh so I thought as long as they stay there theyll be fine. Obviously they didn't. There's nothing I could do because I just wasn't there to look after them. Hopefully the
Male won't kick the eggs out next time.

Well I've found that this fry saver let's a lot more water circulate because I don't have a little internal with a spray bar or anything to use. As I said before, it wouldn't have been a problem if I was there because I would have had the time to move them to the other tank, but was pushed for time and had to get going.

Hi, is the loach in the same tank they are breeding in? if it is it will grab the fry when they leave the cave or may even bully the male out of the way and go in for them as I have found them to be aggressive.

sorry i havent read all post replied so dont know if this has been said!

my male has fanned eggs out side his cave i put it to him not leting her in because as i seen him fanning she snuck in the cave and she released all her eggs out side there was about 15-20? inside 60-70?

I think I may do that. I have the loach to control the snails in my tank because I didn't want to use any chemicals to get rid of them, but if it's going to cause trouble with the Breeding, then it'll have to go.
