Came home to an adult zeb at the front of the tank that didnt run away when I turned the lights on...

Not a good sign at the best of time but when its got sand on it - its never good.

Turns out it was dead

I've not ID'd it yet and was in a bit of a fluster but I have a nasty feeling its our Alpha female

Water is fine as are the rest of the tanks inhabitants (including fry)

Smilies... what smilies? (ok it was me)

Think it turns out its our Alpha male.... Gutted still but not as gutted as I would have been if it was the alpha female...

oh dear, so sorry, funny how they do that sometimes, I always wonder what I must have done wrong or given them wrong food to choke on or something.
could it be old age, any idea how old she was?

I've had them nearly 4 years now... and they were adults when I got them. They guy I bought them from said he'd had them 5 years.. and they were sub adults when he got them.

I'd guess 10+ years!

I've started a mixed group of F1's for when the time came that they started to pass :(
