I had a small L134 lep frog plec in QT for a few weeks (one I swoped for some fry so not a new import - but thought best to qt for a while anyway.)
it was fine, feeding well and plump.
quite a bit smaller than my other L134s so assume its a youngster.
pic here
well my new tank was well seasoned and ready for some plecs
(was set up with existing filter and lots of geo fry for some days and water tested for ph stability etc).
So as no territories existed, I moved 2 large L134 (no idea what sex cos I am hopeless !)
that had been living peacefully in my fry grow-out tank, plus this smaller one, into the new tank.
I thought the small one might be female because of being quite round belly and broad across the beam
( in pic above -what do you think?)-but now I think otherwise!
as soon as he was added world war broke out and he attacked one of the larger fish madly!
despite being smaller! the big one fought back - but I did not want to let them fight it out in case one got injured
so I quickly caught him again.
having him in the hand I took a pic of his belly to see if it would help confirm his sex
-I cant tell with genitalia but hope someone here can??
anyway - he is now back peacfully in the QT tank.
BUT looking at the pics he seems to have orange or yellowish colouring around his parts.
Is this normal? unusual? ailment.?fish VD??
Anybody seen anything like this?
- plus can now see his tail is quite hairy so I guess it must be male.
