Hi,

The last weeks I was allowed to visit Venezuela for a second time. A couple of pictures - not only of fish - I would like to show you.

The flight went to Caracas, more Maiquetía with an Airbus A340-600.

The handling was very smoothly.
From the airport we had let us get straight to the hotel "Miramare Suite" near the airport. For security reasons we organized a trustworthy person before departure.

View to runway of airport.

View to the Caribbean sea ...

Black Vulture (Coragyps atratus)

A strange beer.

Hi,

On next morning we had time in hotel before the flight to Puerto Ayacucho.

View to other side of runway.
During the day every 5 - 10 minutes a plane arrives this airport.

View to marina.

Bathing beach.

Lesser Kiskadee (Pitangus lictor)

Young Blue-crowned Parakeet (Aratinga acuticaudata)

Chestnut-fronted Macaw / Severe Macaw (Ara severus)

Gate 8 - Gate 5 - Gate 8 - Gate 5 - Gate 7 - ...
The departure gates are always changing. With a little luck managed to gate-roulette. This is our plane to Puerto Ayacucho on National Airport.

Many planes take off and land there. The landed planes accumulated here.
We were standing before the start an hour on the tarmac.

To bo continued.

Hi,

on the next day we stay in Puerto Ayacucho.
First we visited the Indian market

(Look also Venezuela 2011).

Then we drove to the airport.
On next dayday we were going to fly in a Cessna 206.

The payload for such plane is 609 kg.
(In theory. If this true after tens years of operation and maintenance in Venezuela?)

The Moment of Truth: weigh-in.
The pilot was probably about 35 kg too heavy.
We needed additional capacity for our luggage. For our future food and cooking had to fly a second machine anyway.
For an extra charge we could bring our luggage to take with the second machine.

To be continued.

Hi,

After the required course at the airport was still time to look around the vicinity of Puerto Ayacucho.
The "default Address", which is also found in many books, this is Pozo Azul (Blue fountain / pond). Since it was Saturday and this place is used as a bathing place, we were discouraged from Pozo Azul. Instead, we first made a trip to a small river that is from Pozo Cristal.

Some pictures from there:

To be continued.

Excellent! Can't wait for more! After you're finished with the pictures please post what company you used while touring the country.

Hi,

The next stop was a private residence few miles away. The views in the water were very promising. Unfortunately, we were not allowed to fish / to swim there. : (

Hi,

@Jan
This part of river is private. We had no permission from the owner.

@Brengrun
This conductivity and ph is no problem in swimming.

On Pozo cristal there are no moskitoes.
But on Rio Cataniapo (see above) there are moskitoes.
But Moskito is not moskito. ;)
On Orinoco near Puerto Ayacucho there are many small moskitoes, named Puri-puri.
If you are not careful, you can see quickly like a pin cushion.

15-minute-work of Puri-puris near Puerto Ayacucho in 2011.

Puri-puris are not dangerous. But it miserably itching.

Greetings
Elko
