Hi,

on Sunday morning we went to the airport of Puerto Ayacucho. A Cessna took us from there to San Juan de Manapiare. San Juan is about 150 km to east from Puerto Ayacucho.

The right window of plane opened after 2/3 of the way by itself. :( Our co-pilot had to keep it with all his force.

Some pictures:

Arriving at the airfield from San Juan de Manapiare

To be continued.

Hi,

Of special interest in search of fish there are natural barriers such as waterfalls, rapids, alternating between the clear water, white water and black water, and others.

On satellite maps there is visible a blackwater river few miles upstream from San Juan de Manapiare. This should be our first target.

(On the marked line Google wrote Rio Ventuari - but there is Rio Manapiare)

Hi,

For the camp we chose mostly a sand bank (on the first day this - on map above: blue marker)

Few animals were there:

Black Vulture (Coragyps atratus)

Pied Plover (Vanellus cayanus)

To be continued

Hi,

... some other pictures from there:

Hypoptopoma sp.
Which plecos fell on the particular size. By now retrospectively identified 9 cm, they were not all that great.

The habitat of this Hypoptopoma - the pink dots (eyes) have betrayed the animals quickly. With cautious movements could "pick" the Hypoptopoma easily from the tree.

... also in this dead tree.

The habitat in the daylight.

The bait fish of our fishermen.

Waterlevels:
16:00 o'clock: water temperature 31°C, conductivity: 20 µS/cm, pH 6.33

To be continued.

Are you conducting some sort of study in that region or is it just a normal holiday?
Is enjoyable seeing things from another country in which we dont have here
