Bristlenoses:yes: if your after getting some small funds for suporting your hoby.

the more exotic L numbers command a higher sale price as are that much slower to grow out and more sensative.

how long have you had them?
does the male live in a cave yet?
i found when i left them well alone they got on with things. mine are in a cupboard under another tank with a curtain that pulls across to keep it looking tidy when visitors come around( wife dont like seeing all my tanks LOL) feed well and the female should plump up! then possably a couple of larger cooler waterchanges and they should be going for it!

they hae been together for about 6 months now, and he doesnt mind her close by, but still may have a go at her. the male has a lovely piece of wood he lives in, its brick like with a gap that he can squeeze in. (will post some pics)
i have read irenes piece, very helpful!

well there are not any I can recomeend for making dosh out of! they dont cover their costs but go a little way to help the food bill.
If you want fish that breed readily but earn a little more than commonBNs, try the more unusual BNs like albino long fins, or LDA08?
maybe you BNs wont breed because they dont like each other - if daily water changes wont start them try adding another female.

I would go with the L144, just as easy to breed and raise as common bns but prettier.

thanks guys, would a pair go in my 3ft tank? or would the males fight?
????? You mean in addition to you BN pair?
If that's what you're asking, the males might fight & they may cross breed. The currently available L144 is thought by many to simple be a color variation of the common BN so housing them together could lead to mixing of the two.

Hypans? Never mentioned Hypans before.
Hypans have different dietary requirements than BNs. Could be some problems if you mix the two.

I got to agree Jack, Mixing Hypans with BN,s is not a good idea due to feeding requirments. Hypans prefer lots of meaty foods and all though bn,s will gladly eat meaty foods there diet should be veggie based otherwise you will probably run into problems.

So you have 2 tanks now?. 1 tank has already got your bn,s in and the other is a new set up?.

well I have L270 breeding with small marbled BNs in 4ft tank and they get on fine. but think larger BNs might not get on with them as would squabble over caves.

If you only have 3ft tank Jack then I would just stick with the bn,s for the time being. As Irene said you will end up with fighting over caves and then the males will lose interest in spawning

Look forward to a breeding report:D
