hey just wondering if i can use normal clear silicon for making caves

No, you need to get some that states on the side that it's suitable for
aquarium use. Normal stuff usually has a fungiside in it.

Selleys do silicon which is aquarium safe, not sure of costs but is available in some online shops. You can also use aquarium epoxy.

i have purchased caves from bream legend but now have quite abit of slate and wet saw so ill be making my own, so even if i use the clear roof and gutter silicon and let it cure for 1 week its still no good ????

Shelley's is ok for caves.(Bunnings) Rhodorsil v2 is the strongest. (what I use). You could use any silicon which is 100 % silicon - acetic cure and does not contain additives. It is safe to use after 3 days but takes a few weeks to get to full strength.

I use Selleys Glass, which is aquarium safe, available from bunnings for aprox. $9 a tube. It works fine even on slate.
