how yea now which slate is safe for yea tank dam i am sick buying caves. From melbourne got heaps ideas for them just need to now whats safe:dk:

normal roof slate or quarry slate is fine. I know of people here, who collect slate from the beach, as long as its clean you should be ok. A quick test, I was told a while back was to dip a piece of stone into vinegar and if it fizzes, do not use.
I am using untreated slate floor tiles, from the Tile shop.
I keep clear of the tiles with red and brown stains.

lol I don't want to know why you have red and brown stains on your floor tiles, what have you been up to?
As Zebra Pleco;77088 has said the vinegar test is a good method if the rock or stone fizzes then some or all of it will break down in the aqarium.
go to a tile store or landscape gardening store and ask how much they charge for grey slate, untreated. good luck cheers jk :thumbup:
