Contrats with the egg laying and good luck with raising the fry.
Were these royal whips? If so, how big were the male/females and how old were they when they were mature?

I have 3 and was wondering how old they need to be before reaching maturity.

i have had royal whiptails spawn at body size of 5-6cm well before they even show signs of male/female... aka males beard....

but with small spawns of 20 eggs to start with.... obviously bigger the female - the more eggs you will get...

goodluck raising fry as they take a bit work !!!

yes cucumber might work. with some whiptails when they are very little they dont come to the food, the food has to be in front of them. they like rocks with algae on so if you are able to grow any in tanks where no algae eaters try that. also small live food like micro worms or crushed flakes soaked- this way it scatters across the surface of the substrate and is close to them if they are too nervous to move out

they aren't wood eaters, but they would have been grazing on any organic growth on the decor, if you dont have much algae in the tank, then there is only enough food for a few to survive, which is probably why you only had 4 survive last time.
they will need food, and lots of it if you are to have a good survival rate
