Hi all,

I have added some yoyo (Pakistani) loaches about 7-9 cm with my L134 colony to kill the over populated snails in my 3ft tank.

Do loaches interfere with breeding?

Any advice would be great.

Thanks

hello,

They are great for killing snails etc. However I do find them very skitish and compete with cave space etc. In all honesty they would not be my number one choice. cheers jk

Hi HP
I find that young yoyo's are better at eliminating snails as when they get older they realise pleco food is much easier and tastier than snails.
You will also need to be careful as they do enjoy snacking on eggs in caves and that leads to some pretty big fights with males guarding eggs. Both fish end up with terrible damage, not to mention its sometimes enough to make the male eat his clutch.
I try to move mine from tank to tank so they are in between spawns. Problem is they are hard buggers to catch!

I would not leave them in the tank for more than a few days if the plecs are breeding size and female is plump. I love yoyos but not good for baby plecs.
