I could not understand that but if u can get use of a used filter and aged water with low readings I would
do a phtest on both tanks to get the new water close to mine for a 40 - 50 % water change I would then add media or sponge from used filter to my own filter and run both filters for a week and ilbe doing 10% water change on both the tanks every day
problem fixed

Something else when u add water is it hitting thesubstrate throwing it around ? Ifso and substrate is full ofpoo that is braking down extra slow this tossing around of the substrate is all a cause of deaths

So did you take all the media from your mams tank?
Is there more than one filter running on your mams tank?
If there is only one filter & you took all the media then you can expect a similar condition to occur now on your mams tank.

wot i did was just actually clean her filter pads in a little bit of water out her tank, like you would when they need cleaning and a water change. i kept the dirty water and and tipped it through my filters a few times giving it a good soak

and there was plenty of lumps in to irene have i done it right
???????
Plenty of lumps in what? In the filter of in the stuff you poured into the filter?

Filter media is the sponges, floss, cartridges, anything that is designed to go into the filter through what the water flows. The stuff you poured into your filter is simply "gunk" it does contain some bacteria but it isn't media.

Water from another tank wont help as it doesn't contain any bacteria, bacteria grows on solid surfaces. Can you move some gravel from your moms tank to yours? rocks, wood etc, just keep it wet while you're moving it. Go and see your lfs and see if they will let you have some nature sponge or floss. Also, get some seachem prime as your water conditioner, it detoxifies the ammonia so the fish can cope with it better. You have ammonia now but you'll get nitrite later, you'll need to keep up the daily water changes for a few weeks.

I hate to say this but you are far from being out of the woods. Your tank is cycling and it can take a month or 6 weeks to completely cycle, longer if the bioload is high. Unless you can get some mature media your tank is going to be unstable for quite a while yet.
