To make my own blocks of food. Apparently if you mix other stuff with agar it doesnt disolve in water as much. So im going to mix up some dried foods (algae wafers, prima, massivore etc) with some bloodworm add the molten agar then freeze to the size i want. Or smear it on stone then the plecs can graze from it at will.

I used it when I had Pterosturisoma microps.

I found it would remain stable for around a day if you allow it to harden before placing in the tank.

Agar can be bought at some health food stores. It is derived from a seaweed and it takes a higher temperature to desolve in water. It is used in the beef heart formulas made by some discus breeders. Egg desolves in warm water too quickly and will not hold for long. Even gelatine will not hold as well as agar. Agar must be disolved in boiling water.

ok... sorry to dissapoint...

Looks like food agar is the best was to go....

I've just had a look on our system and we sell 203 different types of agar!!
and none of them are cheap! (not even to me)
500g for £80 (cost) that sort of thing :(
