You have a Eheim on the same tank as a Tetratec?I have one ecco in each tank they have been running for years with no problems
They are not the main filtration tho as the flow is a bit low, teratec for that
Pete
Is exactly the mix i'll be running by the end of the weekendYou have a Eheim on the same tank as a Tetratec?
Sir you are a bounder and a cad.
Another vote for the Classics, all of mine were 2nd hand so have various bits missing. I like a double tap on the intake side, with a filter sponge over the inlet (I DIY them, there is a thread somewhere <http://www.plecoplanet.com/forum/showthread.php?p=92248&highlight=diy+sponge#post92248%22>), but Eheim make a nice canister with sponges), on the outlet side you can get by with no tap or a single tap if you want to economise. I tend not to use any of the sponges, and just 1/2 fill the body with ceramic rings, if you have the bottom stand you can use it, or just cut some plastic to shape, I#ve got the bottom of a plastic plant pot as a stand for the ceramic rings in one filter and that works fine.It was in running the Classic series that made me try to avoid cleaning it and use supplemental filters & prefilters. I'd recommend getting the in-line disconnects, makes it easier to reprime if necessary.
They are very reliable filters thats been around for a very long time, you'll not be disappointed with your purchase :thumbup:2217 installed and running.
Ceramic, sponge, Substrat, sponge, bioballs, floss, Purigen in that order.
Tank is like a river, I don't need the tetratec in it to be fair now, I'll remove in couple of months once the Eheim is colonised.
Slight rescape done as well, will post a photo once its settled.
Another happy Eheim customer, thanks for all replies

the flow rate through mine now is shocking... the pipes need a good clean I think.
know what you mean but the Tetratec has been OK
I do turn the taps off take the whole top of for maintenance and dont use the quick disconnect fitting
