go big or go home!

looks awesome bud, seriously impressive.

is the 200l drum rain water?

love it
cheers mate, its not all rain water, i have the drum in the fishroom so it warms up overnight, i have been putting 50ltrs of rain water in for 150ltrs of tap water, have to keep the amount of rain water down a bit as it has no buffering capacity on its own

<3 Awesome Brian! What are you doing to keep humidity down? :dk:
honestly mate, i have no humidity.
the room is heated, a lot of the tanks are un-heated so the temp difference between the room and most tanks isn't enough to cause me much problem that way.
all the tanks have condensate trays on too though just in case

Very nice Brian
I always thought of you as a Pseudacanthicus (big plec) keeper as well.

Is your fish room a ground floor room with a concrete floor ?
Lino is the cheapest and best thing for a fish room floor, catches any water spills and is easy to wipe clean.

Just wait till you need to give every tank a good clean, it'll be 8hrs and 10mins for cleaning LOL !

i still have the big tanks as well, wont be getting rid of the pseuda's etc, this is just extra lol.
it is built in the garage, but i've rasied and reinforced the floor, i went for resin floor paint over lino, as i dont want the wooden floor beneath to start sweating, its totally waterproof, sealed and washable

Now thats a fish room! On my travels i have been to some local fish shops which have not got as many tanks or tank potential as you have in the pictures!

Getting old now and if and when i ever upgrade my fish house it will be automatic with water changes! dont seem to see anything like this from your pictures, are you going to do it the old fashion way with buckets sloshing around?

i'll be doing half of it the hard way, syphoning out into a bucket to empty the tanks, but i will be filling the tanks back up again from a 200ltr water butt and a pond pump, only takes 15 mins to do a dozen tanks, most of that is emptying the water out

I would imagine they are not that high. Filtration is all air powered i believe, so if you only have 2 large enough pumps thats not alot of power consumption, not sure if all the tanks are individually heated the room could be heated, again, saving money and power consumption. Looks like they all have individual lights. Me personally wouldnt have individual lights or if i did would not use tubes......Im toying with the idea of using LEDs myself which are cheap as chips to buy and have a lower power consumption and would be fine if you are not intentending to grow plants.

Bri will be able to answer your question in more detail im sure.

the room is heated, 10 tanks have no heaters at all, for the cories and lower temp sp., 6 have heaters but they dont really come on as only set to 24, the other 8 are for the hypans so there will be 8 heaters running in there, but they are tiny heaters (25w) so only peanuts on heating them, they are all air filtered, 2 pumps running at 70ltrs/min each using a total of 70w. there are a couple of small internals running on tanks that want more flow, but i reckon i'm using a total of 300w/hr, which is the same as one big heater, so not bad at all for 24 tanks.
I only actually put 4 lights on each day, and only for a few hrs to keep the plants going so they hardly use any power either

as for LED's steve, they do make LED flourescent tubes now, but very pricey to buy at the mo, i am planning on replacing any bulb that dies with a new LED tube.
