Yea, I will see how it goes. Basically Im looking for ammonia to be 0.0 in tank 1. Tank 2 to me seems good to go. The nitrates obviously could be 0.0 but its not as harmful as the Ammonia in the tank so basically the ammonia is what I'm looking to go down. nitrates of 10 in both tanks are not high or considered harmful.

Nitrates at 20 aren't high either tbh.

You would do well to get them to 0 unless you did a 100% water change before you tested with RO!

I would however be worried about dumping L's into a set up with what probably is a pretty small bacteria colony though as your will be

Yes my point exactly, the nitrates are fine as they are. The only problem is in tank 1 with ammonia of 0.25-0.50ppm. Yea, its been 3 weeks the tanks been fully cycling and the danios in the tank seem to be doing all fine with the water. Obviously the bacteria colony will build up as the cycling completes. I will test water again in a few days and see how Im going. Although I think the cycling is going fine and adding the Ls at the end of the week should not be a problem. Although that all depends on the water parameters at the end of the week, otherwise I will go with big bird and get them in 2 weeks time.

Water tested again today;

Tank 1: PH 7.6, Ammonia 0-0.25, Nitrates 10-20

Tank 2: PH 7.6, Ammonia 0-0.25, Nitrates 10-20

Both tanks are the same in the tests today. Tank 1 has come down in ammonia so I'm pleased. The reason for the ammonia and nitrates being broad is because the colours on the chart are so close, making it hard to tell if its 0 or 0.25.

Thanks :)

I will test again today and see what the ph is. Like i said the colours on the charts so close to each other it makes it hard to tell if its one reading or another. The ph could have been 7.2 although yesterday is looked a tad darker than the day before and the next reading from 7.2 was 7.6.

Thanks for all the help guys, This stupid test kit is doing my head in

Just went and did a PH test on both tanks, The PH is in fact 7.2. For some reason it showed up 7.6 yesterday, I think because I was testing late in the afternoon it made the colour look darker than it actually was. What is everyones thoughts on putting the Ls in this saturday? I have noticed that both tanks have been fairly stable over the last week or so. Tank 2 has been consistent with a PH of 7.2 Ammonia of 0 and Nitrates of 10. Tank 1 has been the same with the drop in ammonia in the last few days.

Im about to do a 30% water change on each tank. Should I change with fresh tap water or aged rainwater? what do you think? is rainwater good to use for breeding 134s? part rain part tap?

Water parameter:

Tank 1 PH 7.2 and ammonia 0

Tank2 Ph 7.2 and ammonia 0

:) :) :)

Ok, Rainwater I only tested the PH and it was the same as my tap. around the low 6s. I will test the rain water when I get home tomorrow and do a 30% WC on both tanks with some tape water I have. Im happy with my tanks, the ph is sitting right and the ammonia levels are none if anything very very little. I'm hoping to put the fish in sat arvo, I know big bird you said wait to next week but I can't wait any longer haha, i want my fishes.... obviously I'm hoping that I don't get a spike in ammonia when I add the 134s in. although the tank has been cycling for 4 weeks now and everything seems to be going fine with the danios in the tank, no signs of stress or anything with them, they seem very happy :) and less shy now. They don't hide soon as I approach the tank anymore haaha
