Hi,

On the next day was a "day off" - at least we wanted to look around in the vicinity of our camp and not go further.

The pictures from the morning

Hi,

On to the next destination ... a little further upstream of the Rio Ventuari. A dinghy is just much faster and, above all because of the lower draft to get into the tributary. (white line on the map with the flag).

Some sections of the river - especially in the estuary areas - are so flat that there also in the dinghy with the motor is nothing more.

Once again one of my "favorite plants" - spiked palms.
Engravings of which often draw on inflammation itself, which should be treated with antibiotics as soon as possible.

For safety reasons, one should also always look where you step back;)
and have attracted in spite of heat suitable footwear - sandals are not always the best choice.

The river was obviously a paradise for ...

The river is a paradise for water birds:

Ringed Kingfisher (Megaceryle torquata)

Green Kingfischer (Chloroceryle americana), female.

Tiger Heron (Tigrisoma lineatum)

Great Egret (Ardea alba)

Cocoi Heron (Ardea cocoi)

... where there are many water birds, there are normally plenty of fish.
Our fishermen have catched one Pyranha per minute. I felt like the Pyranha had no choice but to bite the hook.
For me it was definitely clear: very charming, but not a place for swimming or snorkeling.

Hi,

... return to the mouth of the river.

With a cast net you can catch bigger fishes, if you can deal with the "thing".
(I need a few more practice sessions.)
If I remember correctly the Pseudoplatystoma tigrinum was ~ 85 cm long.
A few days later he had a delicious dinner. : D

next stop was a near our camp located sandbank:

Pied Plover (Vanellus cayanus)

Back to our camp - a proof that you have not afraid to starve on a bongo tour.
Assuming you have a good cook on board.

Hi,

From the Rio Ventuari, we took a little detour into the Cano de Piedra (green pin).
Some pictures of Cano de Piedra:

Hi,

... Rio Ventuar downstream (from mouth of the Cano de Piedra to green Marker).
With the exception of small meanders it goes south to a huge mountain - the Moriche - the river barred the way. (Rio Ventuari 105m above sea level, Moriche about 1216m above sea level) Immediately at the foot of the mountain, the river makes a big bow around it.
